BONIFACE DEAR MEGAN

Winnipeg artist Boniface (aka Micah Visser) has teamed up once again with his brother and director Joey Visser to create visuals for the musician’s third single ‘Dear Meagan’. As with previous video collaboration ‘Phantom Limbs’, the video has a warm DIY feel, although this time the brothers have turned to a nostalgic love for old VHS tapes as we can see from the crackly, low resolution finish. Boniface is a self-described low key hoarder of VHS, and he further explains: “With this video, Joey and I tried to capture that same simplicity. We drank whisky in a white room and played through the song until it felt like it feels live. I’m so happy with how it turned out, and I hope watching it feels a bit like I do when I watch thrift store VHS tapes.” The song itself is punctuated with melodic urgency propelled by Micah’s honest performance as directed by his brother “to go as hard as he does live.” ‘Dear Megan’ is the remorseful comedown of a careless lover, with a fantastically catchy chorus that’ll have listeners bouncing along to the synth-rock energy. - Hannah Thacker
